The Celebration of the Automobile is back again this year after a short hiatus from the show scene, and this year was sponsoring the organisation “Kalparrin” which supports the needs of families of children with disabilities, a very worthwhile organisation here in Perth and based at the PMH. this year saw the inclusion of some very rare and exotic cars from around the world that have made it to WA and are possibly the only ones in Australia! inc.. The only genuine AC cobra in WA, a Ferrari Daytona, a 1936 SS100 jaguar, a trio of Tatra’s (inc one which had a rear mounted V8!) A Morgan Aeromax (only one in Aus!) a Lamborghini Gallardo bicolour and a Jalpa, AND a Ferrari F40!!!! there were other notable cars like the Jag XJS Eventor (wagon) which is the only one in the southern hemisphere and the blue De Tomaso Pantera, to name just a few.
Definitely worth a look see as these are not the sort of cars you would see driving around the streets of Perth on a regular basis, as some only come out of their collections for events such as this, so it’s worth the entry price to see some very unique cars that show the passion car makers used to have when designing their vehicles. and with the very nice sunday weather, and a stone’s throw from the Cottesloe beach, you really could do worse than see some high performance and vintage cars in a tree lined park overlooking the ocean.
I’ll be adding this on next years calendar just to see what other gems come out of the woodwork! cheers..DB.
