Double demerit penalties for the Labour Day long weekend apply from Friday 27 February to Monday 2 March 2015 (inclusive).

Motorists should be aware that as of midnight tonight, double demerits apply across the State for the following offences:

  • Speeding;
  • Drink or drug driving;
  • Failing to wear a seat belt and/or child restraint;
  • Running a red light; and
  • Illegal use of a mobile phone while driving.

WA Police will be out enforcing double demerits across the Labour Day long weekend to help stop risk taking behaviour on Western Australian roads and to protect the majority of the community who do the right thing.
More information on double demerits is available on the Road Rules & Penalties pagenew window.
The Office of Road Safety wishes all West Australians a happy and safe Labour Day long weekend.
