The annual ‘Day of the VW’ was held last Sunday in Taylor st reserve next to McCallum Park in South Perth, with the weather heading towards the low 30’s, it was going to be a warm sunny day, perfect for a car show! and the amount of Kombi’s there in every stage and condition you really thought you were in hippy heaven 😉
with a range of vans, bugs, buggies and a range of newer models to peruse at your leisure you could easily lose a day right there, but the lack of type 3 vw’s had me worried (as i wanted to check a few things on my new purchase) but i could still check out all the sellers and their wares of new and 2nd hand parts that (luckily) were in the shady tree lined area of the park. add to that the refreshments and the odd chat to car owners and friends you had yourself a pretty cool day out.
there was always something to check out whether it was a specific car or accessory, or the different techniques used to get that certain look or engine hardware that gleamed in the full sun, or just some of the unique bits and bobs people used to add character to their pride and joy, and i can tell you there were a lot of these finer details that you could easily miss if you just walked by too quick!!
As this was the first time i managed to get to the show i cant say how it went in relation to all the previous shows..but as i did two other shows that day, and heaps over the past year. this one was definatly a good sized show..especially if you even have a slight interest in the VW, you could find from all the ones there, one that would fit to your liking, and i hope that next year i have one of my own there on show too. 😉 DB
