As i still haven’t gotten my dodge running i grabbed a lift with my good friend Dean, his very nice bright red XC sedan with a stoker motor made me miss driving the dodge that little bit less plus I could hang out the window to grab a few passing shots for once (i may get a lift for all these cruises now!) and that certainly made for a nice change from plodding around in the dodge by my lonesome! after a quick g’day to a few of my friends at the start, we herded on out for the cruise up the hill, the cruise took us around the back roads behind Lesmurdie which was great if you had a nice burbling exhaust or a convertible to steer, also good for taking photos of all the other cars too 😉
After the leisurely 1/2hr cruise we made it to Mundaring hotel were a few people had already grabbed a roadside viewing spot to watch the rest of the cars parade past. and once we found our spot we went and checked out the rest of the displayed vehicles so i could get some more snaps. with the clouds still hanging around it certainly kept the temps down from previous years and with the markets or a pub lunch you could walk around or sit in the beer garden and listen to the live band belting out some good ol songs. By around 1pm we decided to leave and head on home, which was lucky as some others decided to do the same and gave me another chance at some rolling shots which I’m always up for.
The Cranksters pipeline cruise is definitely one of the highlights of the cruise calendar in Perth, and somewhat of a tradition nowadays as its been going on for a few years, i just hope i can get my cars going in time for the next one..yes it takes me that long to fix my cars… or i could just grab another lift and enjoy the ride!
seeya at the next cruise! DB
